JULY 23RD - 2011 - REVERSE RAPTOR MIGRATION BEGINS

Bee-eater numbers are building, small flocks are over the house everyday, with a flock of 20 yesterday. The first BLACK KITES were seen this afternoon, about 15 - 20 so far circling on thermals above the village and then heading down to the coast. Numbers should pick up daily from now. Also the numbers of Barn Swallows and Common Swifts are increasing on passage, good number of swifts drifted high over the village between 3-5pm today.

It doesn't seem that long ago since the first Black Kites were seen heading in from the coast, how time flies............
