FINCA SANTA MARTA GROUNDS – TRANSFER TO MADRID
We had some time to spare before we had to leave for the airport so after breakfast we took a short walk towards Santa Clemente the nearest village to the Finca.
It was fairly quiet but we did see Hoopoe, Spotless
Starlings and lots of Serins. A pool of water attracted both Barn and Red-rumped
Swallows, they were collecting mud for nest building. A pair of Cirl Buntings
were bathing in the same pool and were seen on the way back.
At 12 noon we set off for Madrid, the journey was uneventful
everyone was in a reflective mood and the bus was quite quiet. We arrived at
2:30pm and said our goodbyes, it had been a fantastic trip with a lot of
hilarity and leg-pulling, oh and the bird watching was excellent too!
