We decided to take it easy today, so we only went birding in the morning whilst taking the afternoon off. We set off on foot from the village and took the woodland walk which encircles the Punta Umbria hill on the west side of the Ronda road.
Birding was slow at first but we soon got a few species on the day list and by the time we were half way round we had seen a good selection.

The cork woods looked magnificent in the summer sunshine and the shade of the trees was most welcomed as it began to warm up. By 11am a few raptors began to appear above us, a couple of Honey buzzards came up and a few Griffon Vultures drifted by.
The woodland birds started to come thick and fast: Common Redstart, Blackcap, Garden Warbler, Subalpine Warbler, Firecrest ( 3 more), Great Tit and more Nuthatches and Treecreepers. We had better views of the Woodpecker and had a few more raptors fly over.
We set a target of 25 species but ended up with 31. The rest of the day was spent relaxing on the terrace or walking in the viallge watching the Santa Nino festival procession.
A few Honey Buzzards and a Booted Eagle drifted over the house late in the afternoon.
